I've seen a lot and I can say that there is no course like Thracian Cliffs anywhere in the world.” These are words of one of the most famous golfers of all times – Gary Player, who arrived in the beginning if June for the opening of the second course designed by him in Bulgaria – Thracian Cliffs.
This was my fourth meeting with the great player. I saw him for the first time five years ago, when the terrain bound to become the future unique golf course was just a rocky bush-covered wilderness. Back then very few believed that this can really become the place of a luxurious golf complex. I remember the words of Atanas Golomeev, who was the project manager at that time; “We are facing a Pyramid-scale work here!”. Both the investors and those who have participated in the complex building know best how much persistence, courage and patience it took to reach the celebration on June 4th. Gary Player, accompanied by his Senior designer Jeff Lawrence, and the head of the Gary Player Design South Africa office Mark Tudhope, arrived in the late afternoon of June 3th. Mr. Player once again proved that neither the years, nor the schedule matter when golf is in your heart. Almost immediately after he was welcomed in the complex, the Black Knight impatiently jumped in the buggy and went on a private tour around the course, which was scheduled to take place on the next morning. While stopping to examine each hole and to express his approval of the work done, the great golfer once more demonstrated his great physical shape, eloquence and emotionality.
